Two decades of heat transfer technology and R&D experience, now working for our customers.
Marco Fazzini has joined Metalforms Heat Transfer in Houston, Texas as Leader of Heat Transfer Technology & R&D. He brings two decades of specialized experience in heat transfer technologies, including roles at SABIC and as R&D Manager at Koch Heat Transfer Company.
In this role, Marco will lead technical work, research and development, and product innovation across our heat transfer technologies. That includes heat exchanger design, thermal performance and complex customer applications.
His work in the field
Marco has spent his career applying innovative thermal solutions in refining, petrochemical and other process industries. His experience covers enhanced heat transfer technologies, energy efficiency improvements, troubleshooting, and solutions that improve equipment performance, reliability and lifecycle value.
His published work shows what that focus means for operators. In a Hydrocarbon Processing article on enhanced bundles, he reported that 45 TWISTED TUBE® Heat Exchangers and Bundles had been installed at BAYERNOIL refineries since 2008. Those installs supported higher heat recovery across several units and services.
He is also active in AIChE. He has chaired sessions at the Spring Meeting and Global Congress on Process Safety on heat exchanger design, simulation, and optimization; and on new heat exchangers and heat transfer enhancement technologies.
He holds a degree in mechanical engineering from Politecnico di Milano and a Master of Science from Chalmers University of Technology in Sweden.
What he adds for customers
TWISTED TUBE® Heat Exchanger technology is designed to address common shell-and-tube limitations. Its stated benefits include improving thermal effectiveness, extending cleaning cycles, and eliminating crossflow damaging flow-induced vibrations.
With Marco on the team, Metalforms can support customers with deeper thermal design expertise. That covers performance rating, fouling assessment, replacement bundle design and retrofits aimed at better heat recovery.
A reminder: Metalforms owns the technology
In 2025, Metalforms acquired Koch Heat Transfer's North American business, then its international assets and IP, including global rights to TWISTED TUBE® and BROWN FINTUBE®.
Metalforms now owns the IP, drawings and calculations for the former Koch Heat Transfer brands. That includes TWISTED TUBE®, BROWN FINTUBE®, ALCO® Hairpin, BOS-HATTEN®, Smithco Hairpin, BasTex Hairpin, Muirhead Engineering, Koch Engineering Heat Exchangers and Nitram Hairpins.
That makes Metalforms the exclusive global source for spare parts, replacement bundles, full exchanger replacements, and new equipment across these product lines. Working from the original drawings and calculations lets us match tube geometry, bundle supports, and thermal performance to the unit already in service.
North American production runs out of our Beaumont, Texas facility. European customers are supported through Metalforms Italia Srl in Crema, Italy.
